SOLVE THE MOUNTING PROBLEM

A Rooftop Drone Dock Still Needs a Foundation

Autonomous drone systems may be highly sophisticated, but you still have to mount the Dock in place. Many building owners do not like the idea of drilling through the roof. Can you blame them? Rapid Systems Drone Sled solves that problem.

Drone Sled provides a stable mounting surface while avoiding drilling through or permanently fastening the housing to the roof.

Rapid Systems Drone Sled is a purpose-built physical platform between the Skydio Dock for X10 and the rooftop, adding substantial anchoring power through the ballast weight.

Non-Penetrating Design

The sled uses ballast rather than relying on roof penetration, providing an alternative mounting approach for appropriate flat, level rooftop applications.

Purpose-Built Ballast & Utility Space

The sled is designed to hold 12 customer-supplied cinderblocks while preserving room for network cabling and other support materials associated with the Dock deployment.

Designed for Skydio Dock for X10

The Dock mounts to the sled using the Skydio Dock for X10 bolt-hole pattern already designed into the unit, creating a strong mechanical connection between the Dock and the weighted platform.

Cushioned Roof Interface

The aluminum sled sits atop a cushioned interface, providing a protective barrier between the mounting platform and the installation surface.

DESIGNED BY RAPID SYSTEMS

Built Around the Skydio Dock for X10

Rapid Systems designed and developed the Drone Sled specifically around the physical requirements of a rooftop Skydio Dock for X10 deployment.

The platform is fabricated in aluminum with stainless-steel fasteners and includes four spring-loaded carrying handles for easier handling before ballast and equipment are added.

A cushioned interface is supplied beneath the sled to provide a protective barrier between the aluminum platform and the roof surface.

BALLASTED MOUNTING

More Than 400 Pounds of Non-Penetrating Ballast

The Rapid Systems Drone Sled is purpose-built to hold 12 customer-supplied cinderblocks. The sled and ballast configuration provides more than 400 pounds of anchoring mass without requiring surface penetration. Mounting area must be flat and level for optimum results.

The interior layout also preserves room for network cabling and other support materials associated with the Dock deployment, keeping more of the physical infrastructure together in one purpose-built platform.

One Drone Sled supports one Skydio Dock for X10.

Important:
Roof suitability and final deployment conditions should be evaluated for the specific site. Rapid Systems does not currently publish an independent wind rating for the Drone Sled, but without the sled, Skydio Dock for X10 reports a 35 mph Standby Wind Rating for non-bolted units.

AUTONOMOUS DRONE INFRASTRUCTURE

Supporting Skydio Dock for X10 Deployments

Skydio Dock for X10 is a remote base station for the Skydio X10 aircraft. The Dock houses and charges the X10 drone, communicates with it, and provides the physical launch and landing platform used for remote and autonomous operations.

The rooftop mounting platform is an important physical part of the overall deployment, solving the need for a more resilient foundation. Rapid Systems Drone Sled is designed to provide the additional stay-in-place anchoring needed, without having to make structural changes to the building or mounting surface.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Drone Sled FAQ

How does the Skydio Dock for X10 attach to the Drone Sled?

The Dock mounts to the sled using the Skydio Dock for X10 bolt-hole pattern designed into the Dock. The Rapid Systems sled is laid out specifically to interface with that mounting pattern.

What is a Drone Sled?

A Rapid Systems Drone Sled is a purpose-built, ballasted mounting platform developed for rooftop Skydio Dock for X10 deployments. It provides a stable physical base for the Dock without requiring penetration of the roof surface in appropriate applications.

Is the Rapid Systems Drone Sled designed for Skydio Dock for X10?

Yes. The current sled and drilling template were developed around Skydio Dock for X10. One sled is used for each Dock.

How is the Drone Sled held in place?

Designed to hold 12 customer-supplied cinderblocks, standard configuration provides more than 400 pounds of ballast. The sled creates substantial anchoring mass without penetrating the roof. Roof should be flat and level.

Does the Drone Sled penetrate the roof?

The Drone Sled is designed as a non-penetrating mounting platform for appropriate flat, level rooftop applications. It includes a cushioned mat between the sled and roof surface.

Are cinderblocks included with the Drone Sled?

No. Ballast blocks are supplied by the customer. You can get them from many hardware stores.

Can the sled support rooftop equipment other than Skydio Dock for X10?

Yes. The platform was developed around Skydio Dock for X10, but it can also serve as a base for other compatible rooftop systems when mounting, loading, ballast, dimensions, and site requirements are verified for the application.

Does Rapid Systems install the Drone Sled?

The Drone Sled is currently offered as a product for customer installation. Contact Rapid Systems for product information and current ordering details.
